After Action Report for Soft Opening

By October 16, 2016Uncategorized

We finally received our city license last Wednesday, Oct 12th. We can legally sell our beers now.

We hosted friends and family on Saturday for a “soft opening. It started out being for just “friends and family” but word got around and we quickly realized that many of the “best friends” are the new ones you make.

I was flattered and amazed, almost overwhelmed with the excitement and encouragement from everyone.

I have to admit that I had several moments where my emotions almost got the better of me. I remember coming back to Wichita with my business model in mind. There were no packaging production/tasting rooms in town at that point of 2012. River City and WBC were still just restaurants. My wife and I were out and I remember hearing a musical duo, “Erin & Alan Project,” and I told my wife…”I want them to be the first to play when we finally get the brewery open.” Well that moment came, and it surprised me how significant it was for me. So I extend the deepest thanks to Erin and Alan. I also want to say thanks to “Uche Crashed” for coming out to entertain too. Uche’s music, particularly his original lyrics and soulful voice really resonate with me. If you’ve never heard these two great acts, you need to check them out. I’m sure you’ll see them again at the APB tasting room.

Here are a few shots of the event.

Some lessons we learned from our opening…

Need to finish our patio lighting plan and fix the acoustics in the tasting room.  We’ll get on that. Come check out the progress and be sure to bring a friend.
